The most important place on earth.

Anyone who really knows me, knows that I LOVE my house! My husband and I bought a house that was built in 1915 and this year turned 100 years old. We actually got married in it too! It used to be a rental and a contractor bought it and did some restorations as well as keep some original things in tact. I love the history you can feel when your here and the orignal hardware on the doors add charm and character. It also has a window that has the pully system built in it when you open and close it. There is a cool window you can pull up on and open above a door at the top of the stairs and a huge chalkboard built into the wall in the basement. It makes me wonder if a mom or several through the years taught their kids school down there! So neat to think about.

I love my home for more than those reasons though. It is a place I can truely make my own with color and creativity. I am always working on a project somewhere in the house. Home is the place that calms me the most, refills me after a long day and where we can share it with our friends and family. When I look at every room in the house I want it to be filled with meaning and things that we find beautiful to look at. I was fortunate while growing up to have a mom who worked from home, also with a sewing business and knew it was important to stay home with her kids. I had a great childhood with both parents being entreprenuers and self employed. They surrounded me with creativity and freedom. Growing up in an apartment building in California was great and having our own swimming pool didnt hurt either!

In my young adult life, home wasnt always a place I wanted to be anymore due to family life situations.. It was no longer a place of peace & encouragement. I too look forward to being a stay at home mom once we adopt and want our home to be a place of love and support. I have even been thinking about home-schooling someday for being able to influence my children from home more and not all of the other influences of the world as they will surely have enough of that as they get older. From what I have observed home-schooled children seem to more respective towards their parents and well behaved. Now what parent wouldnt want that?!

I am looking foward to becoming a blogger on my NEW website and sharing my heart and life with my followers. In future posts I will do a home tour with pictures of the special place I call HOME. A great book I read many years ago and kept for our future family is called "The most important place on earth" by Robert Wolgemuth. It is a Christian based parenting book about creating grace in the home, teachable moments & so much more!
